Palataan ajassa taaksepäin vuoteen 2008. Jokereiden vuonna 1997 syntyneiden juniorijoukkue oli lähtenyt Kanadaan, Ottawaan pelaamaan perinteistä Bell Capital Cupia, jonne Jokereiden organisaatio lähettää noin 9-vuotiaidensa joukkueen jokainen vuosi. Kokemus on mahtava ja opettaa poikia niin kiekollisesti kuin mentaalisestikin. Oli erittäin jännittävä kokemus päästä asumaan kanadalaiseen perheeseen vajaa kahdeksi viikkoa toisen joukkuekaverini kanssa. Osaatte varmasti kuvitella minkälaista ralli-enklantia (englannin kielen taito ei yltänyt edes "Ralli-englannin" tasolle) allekirjoittanut puhui 9-vuoden iässä. Palataan jälleen pienten 9-vuotiaiden matkaan Ottawan Civic Centeriin joulukuun 27:tä päivänä, jolloin pelattiin Suomi U20 - Venäjä U20. Ottelun seuratuin henkilö oli ehdottomasti "pikkuleijonien" vasta 16-vuotias Mikael "Mikke" Granlund. "Kulta-Mikke" on vuoden 2008 jälkeen on voittanut jo maailmanmestaruuden miesten tasolla vuonna 2011, jossa syntyi muun ilma-veivi 13.5.2011 (Venäjää vastaan Suomen edetessä finaaliin 3-0 voitolla). Finaali pelattiinkin 15 toukokuuta ja Suomi voitti kuin voittikin ikimuistoisen finaalin Ruotsia vastaan lukemin 6-1. Suomen toinen maailmanmestaruus tuli toteen vuonna 2011. Kaikkien näiden muistojen jälkeen asetin omaksi tavoitteekseni päästä joku päivä edustamaan Suomea U20 maailmanmestaruuskisoissa. Tämä ei tällä kertaa toteutunut. Ehkä oma tarinani tuo vielä jotain ainutlaatuisempaa mistä en osannut edes unelmoida, kuka tietää. Tänään 5:s joulukuuta 2016 Jukka Rautakorpi valitsi oman alustavan kokoonpanonsa 25:n kenttäpelaajan + 3:n maalivahdin voimin, nuorten (U20) jääkiekon maailmanmestaruuskilpailuihin vuodenvaihteeseen 2016-2017 Montrealissa sekä Torontossa. Isot onnittelut teille kaikille ketkä saivat valinnan maajoukkueeseen, nauttikaa pojat. Koko Suomi on teidän takananne tulevan vuoden vaihteen maailmanmestaruuskisoissa. Haluaisin nostaa esille tietyt ystäväni ketkä ovat vieneet minua eteenpäin vaikeissakin paikoissa. Aku Vaskelainen. Siinä oikeestaan jo kaikki mitä lauseeseen tarvitsee, kyseinen poika perheineen on tarjonnut kaiken mahdollisen tuen mitä ikinä olen voinut saada. Ongelma ei ole ollut asuttaminen, mikäli tarve on ollut, ei ystävämatkat Malagan aurinkoon Vaskelaisten perheen loma-asunnolle eikä oikeastaan mikään muukaan, kiitos. Tämän lisäksi lapsuuden ystäväni Henrik "Niki" Borgström, monta kertaa on noustu suosta ja oman sairauden aikana olit joku jolle puhua. Yhdessä jaoimme 15 vuotta samassa joukkueessa, lukiossa luokkatoveruuden sekä ennen kaikkea ystävyyden. Nyt vietät elämääsi Denverin auringossa tavoitellen paikkaa Florida Panthersin miehistössä. Tsemppiä peleihin Denveriin sekä paljon onnea maajoukkuevalinnasta nuorten kisoihin, kiitos Niki. Riku Mänty, wau naapurin poika, jonka kanssa ei jää koskaan mikään tylsäksi. Yhdessä mennään eteenpäin, sinäkin opiskellen ja pelaten jalkapalloa mantereen tällä puolen Alabamassa yliopistossa. Ystäväni Eeva Kääpä sekä Valtteri Luodemäki, jotka kumpainenkin auttoivat minua paljon oman ison elämän muutokseni aikana keväällä 2016, kiitos teille sekä tsemppiä tulevaisuuteen. Ja lisäksi Tessa Kauppinen sekä Suvi Ahokas, oli mahtavaa tutustua teihin aikoinaan. Kaikki nämä vuodet ovat tuoneet loistavia muistoja toivon mukaan niitä tulee vielä paljon lisää. Kiitos paljon tuesta vaikeinakin aikoina.

Paljon onnea tästä suomalaiselle "pikku-veljelleni" Leevi Kerviselle, jonka sänky sijaitsee aika tarkkaan noin 120 senttimetrin päästä omastani. "Sharing is caring."
